Sunday Morning Fishing On The Ohio River Near Charleston, West Virginia

The sun had barely risen over the hills when I arrived at the boat ramp on the Ohio River. I had been looking forward to this morning all week. Fishing on the Ohio River is one of my favorite things to do, and I was especially excited to try my luck at catching some catfish.

I unloaded my kayak from my truck and headed down to the water. The river was calm this morning, and the air was cool and crisp. I paddled my kayak out to a spot that I had found to be productive in the past.

I rigged my rod with a heavy-action spinning reel and a catfish rig. I baited the hook with a live nightcrawler and cast it out into the river. I sat back and waited for a bite.

It didn’t take long before my rod tip bent over. I set the hook and felt a heavy fish on the other end. The fish fought hard, but I was able to eventually reel it in. It was a nice channel catfish, about 10 pounds.

I put the catfish in my fish cooler and continued fishing. I caught a few more catfish throughout the morning, as well as a couple of smallmouth bass. It was a great day of fishing.

As the sun began to climb higher in the sky, I decided it was time to head back to the boat ramp. I loaded my kayak back into my truck and drove home, tired but happy. I was already looking forward to my next fishing trip on the Ohio River.
