Minocqua Lake
The town of Minocqua is almost entirely surrounded by 1,339-acre Minocqua Lake. This moderately clear lake has a maximum depth of 60 feet. You can launch a boat at four public boat launches around the lake, and Torpy Park offers a swimming area, fishing access, playgrounds and picnic areas. Minocqua Lake is a productive fishing lake, with healthy populations of largemouth bass, walleye, muskellunge and panfish. Northern pike and smallmouth bass also are present.
Kawaguesaga Lake
With a surface area of 700 acres and a depth of 44 feet, Kawaguesaga Lake is just to the west of Minocqua Lake, to which it is connected by a stream. Kawaguesaga Lake typically has cloudy water and contains abundant panfish, as well as muskellunge, smallmouth bass, walleye and a few largemouth bass and pike. One public boat launch operates on the lake.
Mid Lake
Mid Lake has a maximum depth of only 12 feet and covers an area of 221 acres. Located just to the southeast of Minocqua Lake, Mid Lake has cloudy water and can provide good fishing for muskellunge, northern pike and panfish. One boat landing is available on the lake, on the west shore.
Bullhead Lake
Not to be confused with the lake of the same name in Manitowoc County, Bullhead Lake covers 35 acres and reaching a maximum depth of 15 feet. The lake is north of Minocqua Lake, less than a mile outside the town of Minocqua. This small lake has cloudy water and contains largemouth bass, panfish and the bullhead for which it is named. No boat launch facilities are available, but shore access can be found off Old Highway 70.
Clawson Lake
This 21-acre lake is nestled between two arms of Minocqua Lake and has a depth of 22 feet and cloudy water. The lake contains mostly panfish, though some largemouth bass and northern pike are present. No launch facilities are available.

Typically found in cooler waters than their largemouth cousins, the smallmouth is a tough fighting fish – arguably the best pound-for-pound fighter in the country. You thought you had your hands full with the largemouth, wait until you’ve dealt with a few smallmouth beauties.
Smallmouth bass tend to reside further from shore than largemouth, look for largemouth in three to five feet of water during the summer, and smallmouth a few feet deeper than that. Fish the shaded side of the lake in the afternoon for either species.
